Swan Lake First Nation is located approximately 2 hours away from Winnipeg within the beautiful countryside of the Pembina Valley. With many successful business interests, it’s no wonder education plays a huge part in their community.
On October 5th, SEC SWAT students Kingsley Harper, Jonovan Munroe, Chantal Mason, and Corben Knott were invited to set up a booth at their annual Health Fair where students from several surrounding communities came together to learn about health and opportunities open and available to them. It was a busy day with nonstop interest in our booth and the effects that tobacco smoke has on healthy lungs. SEC students did a great job of educating and informing the youth who stopped over.
Aside from attending the presentation, the students were given a tour of the community. They were thrilled to see the beautiful countryside and compare it to their home communities up north. Thanks to the community members of Swan Lake First nation for having us out. It was a great experience!
